Very Active and Dedicated Child Friendly Lawyer In January 2005 the organisation 'Children of Sierra Leone ' recognised and awarded Melron Nicol-Wilson , Director of LAWCLA ' very active and dedicated child friendly Lawyer in recognition of his work and that of the Centre in promoting Children's Rights in Sierra Leone. Award of Excellence and Meritorious Services in Public Life The Children Forum Network Sierrra Leone bequeathed the Director of LAWCLA, Melron Nicol-Wilson with the Award of Excellence and Meritorious Services in Public Life in May 2005. In
May 2007 the Director of the Lawyers Centre for Legal Assistance won the
African Human Rights Lawyer Award .for his "dynamism and courageous
pioneering spirit in establishing the Lawyers Centre for Legal
Assistance ( LAWCLA ), his unwavering commitment to improving the lives
of people in Africa and his outstanding professional achievements".
The Award was presented by the Centre for Human Rights, University of
Pretoria on the occasion of the Award Ceremony to the Centre for Human
Rights of the 2006 UNESCO prize for Human Rights Education.
In
April 2007 the Director of the Lawyers Centre for Legal Assistance,
Melron Nicol-Wilson was awarded Lawyer of the Year 2006 by the Madrugar
Club, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone at its annual Award
Ceremony. The Award to him is for his outstanding contribution in the
development the rule of Law and promotion Human Rights in Sierra Leone.
In
December 2003, the Centre's Director, Melron Nicol-Wilson, was awarded
the Lawyer of the Year 2003 by the National Awards Committee of the All
Works of Life ( AWOL ) in recognition of the work of the achievements of
the Centre in Promoting and Protecting Human Rights through Law in
Sierra Leone .
